What is Egg Donation?
Egg donation (egg transplantation) is a method used in patients who cannot achieve pregnancy with their own eggs but have a uterus. In this treatment, eggs from an egg donor are used.
The procedure involves collecting eggs from a donor by a doctor, fertilizing these eggs in the laboratory with sperm cells taken from the recipient’s spouse, and then transferring the resulting embryos to the recipient’s uterus.
Who Can Apply to Egg Donation?
• Menopausal patients
• Patients in the transition period to menopause
• Patients with recurrent in vitro fertilization failure
• Cases with poor egg quality in previous in vitro fertilization attempts
• Cases in which eggs could not be obtained during in vitro fertilization attempts
• Cases whose ovaries were surgically removed
• Cases who have received chemotherapy or radiotherapy
• Those who are carriers of a genetic or chromosomal disease are candidates for egg donation and with this treatment, they can have the babies they have been dreaming of for years.
What is Sperm Donation?
Sperm donation is the use of another man’s sperm to fertilize eggs. In cases where there is no sperm, whose sperm is not suitable for use, or where the use of sperm is inconvenient due to diseases, someone else’s sperm can be used. Sperm donation is also a method used in single women.
For which patients is Sperm Donation recommended?
• Azoospermia (lack of sperm) – inability to obtain sperm in micTESE or TESE
• Poor results in in vitro fertilization treatment due to sperm quality.
• The man is a carrier of a genetic disease that cannot be studied in embryos.
• The man has a viral disease that cannot be cleared from semen
• Detection of serious chromosomal abnormality in sperm
• The man is Rh+ and therefore isoimmunization was detected in the woman’s previous pregnancy.
• The woman is single
What is Embryo Donation?
Embryo Donation: If a couple cannot have a child and the examinations show that there is no sperm in the man and no egg in the woman, or if they are of too poor quality to be used, embryo donation is recommended for this couple.
In this case, a sperm sample selected by the couple is supplied from the sperm bank.
At the same time, eggs are taken from a suitable female donor, and then these eggs and sperm are combined with appropriate methods at our in vitro fertilization center in Cyprus.
Some of these embryos are transferred to the expectant mother, and the remaining embryos are frozen and stored to be used according to the family’s wishes.
With this method, it is ensured that the child born later will be a full sibling.
The main requirement for embryo donation is that the woman’s uterus is healthy.
What is Egg Freezing?
If a couple cannot have a child and the examinations show that the man has no sperm and the woman has no eggs or is of too poor quality to be used, embryo donation is recommended for this couple. In this case, a sperm sample selected by the couple is supplied from the sperm bank.
At the same time, eggs are taken from a suitable female donor, then these eggs and sperm are combined with appropriate methods in our in vitro fertilization center in Cyprus to obtain an average of 10 embryos. Some of these embryos are transferred to the expectant mother, and the remaining embryos are frozen and stored to be used according to the family’s wishes.
With this method, it is ensured that the child born later will be a full sibling.
What is Sperm Freezing?
Sperm freezing is the most successful method of preserving a man’s potential for pregnancy. Thanks to sperm freezing technology, it is possible to have a child or children even after many years.
What is Embryo Freezing?
After the embryo transfer process, embryos of increased freezing quality are frozen using the vitrification technique in our clinic, after the couple’s consent is obtained. Thus, we can transfer frozen embryos without the need to stimulate the ovaries later. We get very successful results with the vitrification technique.
In Vitro Fertilization Treatment (IVF)
In Vitro Fertilization Treatment (IVF) stands out as a logical step for individuals who continue to have infertility problems despite traditional treatments. The IVF method is the most effective method today, offering a fertility rate five times higher than the IUI method. IVF is also the most common fertility treatment method and is very useful for women who are older, have damaged fallopian tubes, and are experiencing male factor infertility and similar conditions.
In Vitro Fertilization Treatment Process
• You must contact us 2 months before the date you want to start treatment.
• Treatment begins with the menstrual period.
• The expectant mother begins the treatment process by using egg enhancing injections. This process is followed from where you are
• The needles last for 12-15 days.
• After the needles have expired, the expectant mother must come to our center to collect her eggs and provide a sperm sample.
What is Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGT)?
On the 3rd day of menstruation, induction is started using needles to increase the number and quality of egg cells.
These injections are administered in varying doses depending on the age of the expectant mother and the status of her egg reserves.
In our in vitro fertilization center in Cyprus, this induction may take an average of 8 to 12 days.
When the egg cells reach the desired size, a cracking injection is given and egg collection is planned in our center within 36 hours (1.5 days).
At the same time as egg collection, sperm is collected from the prospective father and the eggs are fertilized by microinjection (ICSI) and turned into embryos.
The pregnancy result is learned by performing ßHCG in the blood 12 days after the transfer.
