IVF
Infertilite
IVF treatment (in vitro fertilization) was first successfully applied in England in 1978.
Factors that cause infertility (infertility) in women;
– Ticking of the egg ducts (fallopian tubes)
– Uterine (uterine) and congenital abnormalities
– Benign uterine urlar (fibroids)
– Intrauterine adhesions (uterine sineuses)
Factors that cause infertility (infertility) in men;
– Low sperm count
– Slowness in sperm movement
– Disfigurement or inability to see sperm cells
According to statistics, more than 4 million children were born by IVF method all over the world.
IVF treatment has been a great gateway to hope for couples who cannot have children by natural means thanks to technology, improved laboratory facilities and research that have advanced in the last 30 years.
IVF (Eng. IVF – in vitro fertilization) literally means “fertilizing eggs with sperm in glass”, which in turn becomes fertilization outside the body in the lab.
In vitro fertilization is one of the factors affecting the rate of success, especially:
- The age of the patient
- Type of infertility diagnosis
- Duration of infertility
- Hospital / doctor experience / expertise
- Number of embryos transferred
- Type of IVF performed: stimulated or natural cycle IVF
For women younger than 34, most will achieve pregnancy within 1 to 3 treatment cycles; indeed, many are successful on their first attempt.
Success rates for women over 35 tend to decrease as aging affects the quality of these women’s eggs.
For a detailed discussion about IVF success rates, couples should visit the website for the clinic where they are considering treatment. They should also discuss specific fertility possibilities with reproductive endocrinologists.
IVF pregnancy rates vary by clinic, so patients should carefully examine their chances of success in the treatment of specific clinical practice.
At the beginning of the IVF process, the ovaries are stimulated with special drugs so that a large number of egg cells can be obtained from the woman.
This process varies from patient to patient.
Drugs are used for 15-20 days. After the ovaries become suitable with ultrasound and hormones with a blood test, egg collection is performed. Eggs are collected through the vaginal route with the help of ultrasound.
On the same day, sperm is taken from the man and a normal IVF or microinjection process is performed in the laboratory for the process of fertilization.
The fertilized egg, which becomes an Embryo, is transferred to the woman after two to five days.
Alcohol use does not cause much harm if it is in the form of social and light alcohol consumption (for example, the use of 1-2 glasses of wine per week), while continuous drinking shows its harmful effects.
In fact, we watch the baby’s facial jawbones change so that the baby can be seen from the outside, which we call pierre-robin syndrome in the babies of mothers who drink too much alcohol.
The main goal in IVF treatments is to increase female ovulation.
For this, women have to have various hormone injections.
A woman may feel pain during sexual intercourse due to both the proliferation and growth of her eggs in numbers.
However, at the first stage of treatment, there is no ban on sexual intercourse.Egg collection and placement in the mother’s uterus, that is, the period before pregnancy after transfer, sexual intercourse is definitely not recommended. If the pregnancy test is performed and the pregnancy begins, the ban on sexual intercourse continues during the period up to the baby’s heartbeat.
As a result of the healthy progression of the pregnancy period, the ban on sexual intercourse is lifted at the end of the first 3. In patients starting IVF treatment, be sure to ask your doctor when intra-sexual intercourse is prohibited. Because there may be differences depending on the patient’s condition.
One of the important questions about the relationship is the period of abstinence before giving sperm before collecting eggs. In order to achieve a good sperm count and quality, you must remember that you must have a period of abstinence of at least 3 to no more than 5 days.
You have to adjust the relationship frequency accordingly.
The first thing to do before IVF treatment will be to stop smoking if you are being used. Of course, it’s going to be a very difficult time for drinkers, but you have to put up with it to be a parent. As mentioned above, smoking is known to weaken the ovaries in women and seriously reduce egg quality, and one of the most important elements in IVF treatment is quality ovarian reserve. In addition, smoking reduces sperm quality in men, and sperm quality is another important element in treatment. It has also been found to affect egg development, egg stimulation, fertilization and embryo development during treatment. Not only that, but also serious damage to the arrival of the baby, even if the pregnancy has taken place.
As a result of scientific statistics, it has been proven that sudden infant deaths in smoking homes are much higher than in non-smoking homes.
If you have decided to treat IVF, remember that the success rate of couples who do not smoke is twice as high as those who smoke.
Even if the chance of pregnancy occurs, it increases the risk of miscarriage and the possibility of premature miscarriage occurs. Permanent ovarian damage occurs in women who have used long-term smoking, but quitting smoking for a certain period of time before starting treatment will significantly increase the chances of success.
Cigarette smoke contains more than 3000 chemical compounds such as carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon, cadmium, nitrosamine and nicotine.
All of these substances are toxic substances that are toxic to the human body.
Although there may seem to be contradictions in Scientific Studies, important and reliable studies recognize the negative effects of smoking on reproductive functions in both sexes.
Skin disease experts agree that whether you are pregnant or not, sun exposure or artificial exposure can have harmful health consequences. Tanning is a response that your skin performs to protect itself against the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays.
The scientific data available show that prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays increases the effects of aging, as well as accelerates the development of a type of skin cancer called malignant melanoma.
Many pregnant women’s skin is more sensitive during pregnancy and more vulnerable to sunburn. During pregnancy, levels of the melonocyte stimulating hormone, which affects the cells that secrete melanin, which gives the skin its color, rise. This condition makes the pregnant woman susceptible to excessive pigmentation.
If you have a pregnancy mask called cholasma on your face, that is, if you have irregular and dark color changes, then you are also extremely sensitive to sunlight and ultraviolet light.
In this case, your skin will respond to the sun’s rays more and more violently than ever before. However, a long time in the sun can lead to both an excessive increase in your body temperature and a decrease in the water in your body (dehydration).
Both conditions can have negative effects on your pregnancy. For all these reasons, it is not recommended to stay in the sun for a long time while pregnant.
Infertility is an extraordinarily common disease.
About 25% of all women will experience a period of infertility during their lifetime. Infertility in Turkey currently affects about 2 million women and their spouses.
The percentage of women of reproductive age who have trouble successfully grasping and maintaining a pregnancy varies by age.
About 10% to 15% are affected by this problem in the youngest part of the population. Among women over 35, however, more than a third decimated fertility.
Pregnancy loss rates are also associated with a woman’s age; miscarriage rates in women over 40 exceed 50%.
In most cases, routine fertility assessment can be done by an obstetrician / gynecologist or a family physician.
Some tests can be easily performed and interpreted by physicians, but a reproductive endocrinologist may be required to interpret advanced tests and provide the most accurate counseling.
But women aged 34 and over are recommended to see a reproductive endocrinologist directly at first.

Infertilite
How common is infertility?
By whom should an infertile couple be judged?
What is infertility?
Infertility in many countries means a couple who cannot conceive after 12 months of regular sexual intercourse without using contraception.
Research shows that most cases of infertility are caused by more than half of women, with the rest due to sperm disorders or unidentified factors caused by men.
Most cases of apparent infertility are treatable. Infertility can have a single cause in one of the partners, or it can be the result of a combination of factors.

A woman’s fertility begins to decline after about age 32.
In men, it begins to gradually decrease after the age of 40.
Cigarette
Smoking significantly increases the risk of infertility.
Smoking significantly increases the risk of infertility in both women and men. Smoking can weaken the effects of fertility treatment. Even if a woman becomes pregnant, if she smokes, she has a higher risk of miscarriage.
Alcohol
A woman’s pregnancy can be severely affected by any alcohol consumption. In men who consume too much alcohol, their fertility has been observed to decrease. It has been found that moderate alcohol consumption does not reduce sperm yield in most men, but negatively affects fertility in men with low sperm count.
Being obese or overweight
Overweight / obesity and a sedentary lifestyle are found as the main causes of female infertility. An overweight man has an abnormal risk of sperm.
Eating disorders
Women who are severely overweight as a result of an eating disorder may have fertility problems.
Becoming a vegetarian
If you are a strict vegan person, you should make sure that your intake of iron, folic acid, zinc and vitamin B-12 is adequate, or your fertility may be affected.
Sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
Chlamydia can damage the fallopian tubes, as well as cause inflammation of the man’s scrotum. Some other STIs can also cause infertility.
Exposure to certain chemicals
Some pesticides, herbicides, metals (lead) and solvents have been linked to fertility problems in both men and women.
Mental stress
In women who are subjected to mental stress, sperm production negatively affects eggs and in men. When at least one partner is stressed, there is a possibility that the frequency of sexual intercourse is less, the chances of pregnancy are reduced.
Sulfasalazin:
It is an October substance used in anti-inflammatory agents. It can significantly lower a man’s sperm count. It is usually prescribed for Crohn’s disease or rheumatoid arthritis. Sperm count usually returns to normal after stopping the drug.
Anabolic steroids:
Anabolic steroids: used by bodybuilders and athletes, these drugs can severely reduce sperm count and motility with long-term use.
Chemotherapy:
Some types can significantly reduce sperm count.
Illegal drugs:
Cannabis and cocaine consumption can reduce sperm count.
Not menstruating is called” amenorrhea”. In women who have never menstruated, we call primary amenorrhea, there is usually a hormonal genetic problem. In other words, interrupting this hormonal cycle from the brain to the ovaries, from the ovaries to the uterus anywhere prevents a woman from menstruating. So amenorrhea occurs at every point when this hormonal cycle is interrupted.
In a condition called primary amenorrhea, hypotramic hormones secreted from the brain to the ovaries are missing. Supplementing these hormones allows women to menstruate and pregnancy, allowing their ovaries to become functional again.
But in our patients with TURNEL syndrome, where the response of the ovaries is negative, that is, despite the fact that these hormones do not work, whether the ovaries with early menopause or genetic syndrome develop or are not active, unfortunately, pregnancy will not be possible by running the ovaries.
In such cases, people have the only chance of pregnancy to contact egg banks.
